Peanut Butter Cookie anyone????

pb cookieWho doesn’t love a good Peanut Butter Cookie? There are so many ways to enjoy this treat!!  Chunky, no nuts, dipped in chocolate, add some chocolate chips to the mix!!!

It was in the early 1920′s that peanut butter was first found listed as an ingredient in cookies and now, peanut butter cookie lovers across the United States celebrate National Peanut Butter Cookie Day.

The Peanut Butter Cookie dates back to the early 1900’s!!!

The most well know promoter of the peanut was American agricultural extension educator, George Washington Carver, did you know that he compiled 105 peanut recipes from various cookbooks, agricultural bulletins and other different sources.

In 1916, Carver put together a Research Bulletin called “How to Grow the Peanut and 105 Ways of Preparing it for Human Consumption“.

Early peanut butter cookie recipes called for them to be rolled thin and cut into shapes or dropped and made into balls.

Homemade peanut butter cookies would just not be right without the traditional forked crisscross’s on them!  To this day, when I make peanut butter cookies, they have the crisscross on them, as I grab my fork and flatten them out!!!

HAPPY NATIONAL PEANUT BUTTER COOKIE DAY!
